Ben Newnam named to USL Team of the Week

June 10, 2017: OKC Energy FC plays San Antonio FC in a USL game at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC defender Ben Newnam has been named to the USL Team of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Newnam scored the lone goal in SAFC’s 1-0 win over Orange County SC on September 13, clinching San Antonio’s first playoff berth in the franchise history. Newnam now has one goal and one assist for SAFC in the 2017 season.

The goal was the first for Newnan since June 2015 when he was with Louisville FC.

San Antonio FC is 14-3-10 on the season and will return to Toyota Field when they welcome Rio Grande Valley Toros FC to Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday as SAFC closes the season with four out of five at home.
